In 2002 Ohio production prodigy RJD2 was cast into the spotlight with his critically acclaimed debut solo full-length Deadringer (Def Jux). Already known for his work with Ohio ’s MHz (Megahertz) crew, Deadringer solidified RJD2’s position as one of Hip Hop’s luminary one man show producers. One track on Deadringer shed a little light on what was to soon come…”Final Frontier” showcased an enigmatic, energetic Ohio emcee named Blueprint. An up and coming producer/emcee, Blueprint had already established himself amongst the underground circuit with his crew Greenhouse Effect and production for fellow Weightless emcee Illogic.

“Final Frontier” gave the world a glimpse of the birth of Soul Position and set the stage for the impromptu Unlimited EP (Rhymesayers). While RJ spent the majority of 2002 supporting Deadringer, Blueprint set out on the 62 date Godlovesugly tour with Atmosphere. Wanting something to start the Soul Position buzz RJ & Blueprint spent a weekend compiling a few out takes and tracks that didn’t make the 8,000,000 Stories album, the result was the Unlimited EP. An amazing 6 song appetizer that showed the creative range of this dynamic duo.

Enter 2003 and 8,000,000 Stories, the debut full-length from Soul Position. 8,000,000 Stories is a beautifully balanced album, ranging from spirited braggadocio battle raps to equal parts real life, insightful song writing. With RJ’s meticulous Hip Hop melodies and Blueprint’s charismatic heart felt flow 8,000,000 Stories will undeniably be one of the most notable releases of 2003.
