Chris Reed, also known as Plastician (formerly Plasticman), is a Dubstep, Grime DJ from Thornton Heath in the London Borough of Croydon.
Plastician is unique in that he is respected as one of the true pioneers of both the Dubstep and Grime genres as a DJ and as a producer. He runs his own record label, Terrorhythm Recordings – the label which introduced Joker and Om Unit to the world – releasing both artists’ debut records.
As a producer he still to this day bridges the gaps between many forms of bass music, but is most noted for his dubstep and grime productions which have seen him collaborating with and remixing artists such as MIA, Snoop Dogg, Wiley, Skepta, Skream, 12th Planet and JME to name a few.
In 2003, he also ran the legendary but ill-fated Filthy Dub event. The event ran for a mere 5 months but gave DJ debuts to dubstep pioneers Skream, Benga, Loefah and N Type during it’s short life.
He plays a weekly radio show on Rinse FM, and is noted for being the first DJ to play tracks by Emalkay, Joker, 12th Planet and countless more to date. In 2006 he spent 18 months on BBC Radio 1, making him the world’s first DJ to have a specialist dubstep and grime radio show on national radio.
