Hot As Sun is Jamie Jackson and Deborah Stoll – a musician/multi instrumentalist and writer/visual artist collaboration formed in May, 2010. Bonding after a soundbath at The Integratron in Joshua Tree, Deborah and Jamie soon found they shared a love of weird sounds, magic houses, pegasus and bacon. Jamie spent the summer recording the music in her loft in downtown LA. inspired by, and writing all the songs on the Omnichord and soon after, music videos and live show projections were created in Deborah’s house in Silverlake.
Their four song EP was self-produced and released in November, 2010. The music’s blissed-out atmospherics and jagged hooks instantly got the critics buzzing – with spins on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, and glowing reviews from taste-makers like Buzzbands, Billboard, LA Time’s Brand X, and My Old Kentucky Blog. Hot As Sun’s pop art aesthetic has earned them slots playing events like Peter Tunney’s gallery opening in NYC, Concept LA Fashion Week at Ace Gallery in Los Angeles, Art Basel in Miami, and an underground pool party with water ballet troupe, The Aqualillies. Additionally, they’ve opened for artists such as Gotye, Foster the People, Phantogram, and Active Child.
The band is ringing in the new year with a label deal with Last Gang Records and have pressed 100 hot pink vinyl featuring their cover of Van Halen’s Hot For Teacher and a remix of their song ‘Come Come’ by the Kick Drums featuring rapper Freddie Gibbs. They are currently at work on their debut full-length album.
